Since June 2002, Chris has been teaching privately and teaching local master classes for middle and high schools and giving drum clinics as well. He says that both classes and clinics are educational ways to motivate and teach in two very different environments.
“The master classes give me the opportunity to find specific weaknesses of students and how them how to accomplish something they’ve been struggling with. Where as with clinics, it’s more of a demonstration and explanation type of setting.”
Chris has also been entertaining in various clubs such as the Redfish, Green Mill, The Jazz Showcase, and Andy’s Jazz Club, and performing various gigs whenever they present themselves.
Chris’ latest gig is as the full time drummer for the Blooze Brothers Tribute Band, which plays an average of 55-75 shows per year and travel all over the Midwest. On average, they play in front of 500,000 people per year, opening up for groups such as Cheap Trick, The Doobie Brothers, Joe Banamassa, The Buckinghams, Joe Cantafio and the 101st Rock Division, and other various artists.
“When I auditioned, I played like I always do, with extreme confidence and knowing I was doing the best that I could. There was a perfect pocket there and everybody jived together,” Chris says. “Playing with the Blooze Brothers has made me more comfortable playing with a bigger band filled with great musicians, and it has dramatically improved me as an overall musician.
“Playing with a band that’s that big, you learn that you don’t have all the space in the world to do all those licks because there’s already so much going on,” he says. “It’s a wonderful thing to find that pocket and just groove. You can easily have just as much fun layin’ down your thing when everybody else is right there with you.”
Chris is an active clinician for Guitar Center, Sam Ash Music, and various music stores all over the country. Chris is endorsed with Yamaha Drums, Paiste Cymbals, Earthworks Microphones, Hear Technologies, and Power Wrist Builders.
